Good: Good stuff about a kick ass historical figure.
Bad: I'm afraid there's not a lot of history in it.

Don’t despise a weak cub, it can appear the son of a tiger.

I don’t know a whole lot about Genghis Khan.  He kicked a lot of ass hundreds of years ago and rules a lot of the planet.  While this film is based upon his early years, I don’t know how much accuracy it sacrificed for the sake of entertainment.

If you’re looking for a lot of horse-riding, archery-laden, fur-wearing Mongolian battles – you’re not really going to get it with this.  It’s more about his early years and, just like the titles indicates, his rise.  If the film is even moderately accurate, dude had a real shitty early life.

This is supposed to be the first film of a trilogy, but I’ve not seen anything since this one’s release…6 years ago.  It’d be a shame not to continue.  It’s a pretty damn good movie.
